Five years after its initial release, Tom Sachs’ Mars Yard sees extensive updates with re-engineered materials for unsurpassed performance. Sachs spent the last five years researching (aka: breaking in) the original Mars Yard to determine how to improve its durability. The original Vectran upper is replaced with a polyester warp-knit tricot mesh, making a more breathable shoe. Two insoles are offered, in mesh and cork, with the latter catering to sockless shoe wearers. Raw and undyed fabrics reduce the shoe to its elements and enhance the attention to detail. The consistent modification is a reflection of Sachs’ own artistic operations, as everything he makes is seldom complete.
